Elly Mousellis for Bass

Elly Mousellis is honoured to be running as your candidate for Bass, which is located on Bunurong Country. Determined to be a strong voice for the native wildlife and natural environment of Bass Coast, Elly wants to build a kinder and fairer Australia for animals, people and our planet.

She is committed to proudly endorsing the party’s four core values: Kindness, Equality, Rationality, and Non-Violence.

After fostering a playful floppy-eared lop rabbit who was rescued for a rabbit meat farm, Elly became vegan. She has since learnt the extent of the mistreatment of vulnerable animals in intensive animal agriculture practices, and is committed to ending factory farming.

Working within the pet industry, Elly spends her days with boots on the ground, drafting and implementing strategies to battle misinformation. She aims to provide education and support for local families to best care for their companion animals, and is in full support of the Animal Justice Party's 'Veticare' proposal - which will provide subsidised veterinary care, thus further improving care for companion animals across Victoria.

“Veticare will not only ease the cost of living for so many struggling families, but also improve the lives of many vulnerable companion animals suffering who do not have access to the care they deserve."

Elly is passionate about the local biodiversity of Bass Coast. When elected, she will advocate for an end to the violent and merciless 1080 poison, and a ban on recreational duck shooting.

Constantly in communication with the local community, Elly knows that residents are concerned about sand mining in the Westernport Woodlands. She will push to end this practice, which is destroying rare coastal forests and destroying the local environment.

Elly is also extremely passionate about local human issues and wants to see more functional and practical regional public transport systems. She acknowledges that domestic violence is one of the most significant issues in Australia, particularly in Bass Coast, and advocates for a stronger focus on families, and their animals, who are suffering behind closed doors.
