Hannah Wilshier for Western Victoria Region

Hannah Wilshier is proudly running as your Animal Justice Party candidate for the Western Victoria Region. Living in Geelong on beautiful Waddawurrung Country, Hannah shares her life with her husband and two fur babies, Minerva and Winifred.

As an incredibly passionate animal rights advocate, Hannah is determined to build a kinder world for animals, people and our planet.

After completing studies in nutritional science, Hannah developed a deeper understanding of the link between diet, health and environmental impact. It quickly became evident to Hannah that if improvements were to be made in these areas, significant changes were needed. Using this knowledge, Hannah will work to support farmers to transition from animal agriculture to plant-based farming.

This desire to create a better future for all led Hannah to pursue a career in education. As a secondary school teacher for the Department of Education, Hannah is driven to empower and upskill young people to make informed decisions about their own futures.

This experience has given her unique insights into the functioning of Victoria’s public education system and key areas for improvement. When elected, Hannah will address the current teacher shortage by investing in programs that fast-track professionals into the industry.

Hannah recently completed the Women for Election workshop and believes Parliament needs more young women in positions of power, where important decisions are being made. She has also spent the last year working with fellow animal rights advocates on projects addressing pet adoption and rehoming - in the hopes to end puppy and kitten farming.
