Kangaroos are wildlife, not leather. It’s time for Mizuno to commit to a date to stop using kangaroo leather for good.
Every year in Australia, over a million kangaroos are shot for commercial purposes. Kangaroo skin is turned into football boots, gloves, and other fashion items sold around the world.
Japan-based sportswear giant Mizuno announced earlier this year that they will be phasing out the use of kangaroo leather in its shoes but no date has been confirmed.
This announcement comes after Nike, Adidas, Puma, and New Balance have all moved away from kangaroo leather as a result of pressure from animal welfare advocates in Australia and around the world.
