Benjamin McMillan for Senate

Protecting animals, promoting compassion, and creating a healthier Australia

Cybersecurity expert. Wildlife defender. Plant-based pragmatist.
Benjamin McMillan is proud to stand as the No. 2 Senate Candidate for Victoria in the upcoming Federal Election. A passionate advocate for animals, Benjamin brings a calm determination and systems-thinking mindset to federal politics—shaped by both his rural upbringing and his professional career in cybersecurity.

A belief in connectedness and care
Born and raised in rural Victoria, Benjamin has always believed in the interconnectedness of humans, animals, and the environment. Since moving to south-eastern Melbourne in 2010, he has continued to champion the ethical treatment of animals and the protection of native wildlife and their habitats.

Benjamin believes that our role as custodians of the land comes with a responsibility to care for both native and non-native animals with compassion and respect.

Advocating for food system reform
Living a plant-based lifestyle for nearly a decade, Benjamin supports a pragmatic and inclusive shift toward healthier food systems. His priorities include:

  • Expanding access to affordable plant-based options

  • Investing in alternative proteins

  • Requiring clear warning labels on harmful products, like processed meats

He believes these reforms are key to improving public health, cutting healthcare costs, and reducing harm to animals and the planet.

Benjamin’s policy priorities include:

  • Cost-of-living relief through Veticare, making veterinary care affordable and accessible for all

  • Ending greyhound and horse racing, and addressing the social harms of gambling

  • Non-lethal wildlife management, including compassionate solutions for wombats and other native species

  • Reforming the food system for human and planetary health

  • Harsher penalties for animal cruelty to reflect the seriousness of harm inflicted

A thoughtful, forward-thinking voice for animals
Benjamin McMillan is a grounded and thoughtful voice in the fight for systemic change. If elected, he will bring technical insight, ethical leadership, and a clear vision for a kinder, healthier Australia.
