Chloe Coulson for Hastings

Chloe is proud to stand with the Animal Justice Party as a candidate because she believes our community deserves Members of Parliament who stand up for animals, people, and the planet.

Chloe's background is based in community service, education, and advocacy. She has studied community development, social work, and disability, giving her a strong understanding of the social challenges facing individuals, families, and communities. Additionally, she has spent years volunteering with environmental and community groups - something that she still enjoys.

Through her studies and practical experience, Chloe has developed a commitment to social justice, animal rights, the environment, and creating positive change for those whose voices are often overlooked.

Chloe has spent her whole adult life working alongside those most at risk. For the past seven years, she has worked in a special development school supporting students with disabilities and complex needs achieve an education. She also organises and runs a community Spanish group and is a long time volunteer with her local environmental friends group, as well as other local conservation groups aimed at rehabilitating bush land and protecting native animals.

Chloe is standing for the Animal Justice Party because she believes we need representatives who will advocate for evidence-based policies that protect animals, strengthen communities, and safeguard our environment. The Hastings electorate is home to significant natural habitats, unique wildlife, and communities facing increasing social and environmental pressures. Chloe knows that we need real action that addresses these challenges long term. Too often, the interests of the community, the people, wildlife and environment within it are overlooked in decision-making. It is time for this to change.

Protecting native wildlife, opposing hunting, ending wildlife culling programs, investing in habitat restoration and better responses to wildlife road strike through improved infrastructure, wildlife crossings, signage, and data collection. Better supporting for wildlife rescuers and conservation volunteers, strengthening animal protection laws and modernising animal welfare and cruelty legislation. As well as addressing social disadvantage through advocating for increased support services for people experiencing homelessness, family violence and sexual violence are some of the areas Chloe is most passionate about and actively advocates for.

Chloe would like to acknowledge and pay her respects to the Bunurong people, on whose land she lives and is running as a candidate for the electorate of Hastings.
