Dr. Julie Harman is a dedicated and passionate advocate for health and well-being of all animals and people alike. As a medical doctor who has worked in large cities, regional and indigenous communities and in humanitarian roles overseas, she has seen the hardships that can occur when there is little or no support from government, politicians and local organisations.

Julie is passionate about ending the suffering that animals endure when used in food production, which is why she supports research and investment into alternative plant proteins, and an end to factory farming.

She also believes in the importance of caring for the environment. If elected, Julie will legislate to protect our parks and open spaces from overdevelopment, and for strong laws to promote recycling and minimise pollution.

Julie has been involved in healthcare and education for many years. Before becoming a doctor, she trained as a Registered Nurse and worked at the Alfred Hospital, Box Hill Hospital & Monash for several years. Following this, Julie moved to the Torres Strait Islands where she worked in Indigenous healthcare on Thursday Island. Having also worked overseas as a volunteer with the humanitarian organisation Medicines Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders), Julie then returned to Australia to start her family.

Dr. Julie later returned to university to study Medicine and graduated with her medical degree in 2016. She has worked as a doctor at Box Hill, Maroondah & Angliss Hospitals. She commenced training in General Practice in Frankston and Cranbourne and then moved into working in Occupational Medicine, initially working with Victoria Police and for the past 6 years she has been working as a doctor with the recruitment team for the Australian Defence Force.

Julie hopes to use her knowledge of health, animal welfare, her caring nature and her hardworking values to support the Frankston community.

She will work to improve funding in key areas, with a focus on education, mental health, and public housing. She will also work with businesses to develop and support programs to increase training jobs and grow small business, to capitalise on Frankston’s place as a tourist destination and gateway to the Mornington Peninsula
