Nicola Rae for Warrandyte

Nicola is a mother and a passionate wildlife rescuer, rehabilitator and carer who has been running Amaroo Wildlfe Shelter for the last 12 years. With experience caring for possums, wombats, kangaroos, turtles, echidnas, native birds, swans and more, Nicola has seen first-hand the negative impacts that human interference has had on wildlife.

For the last thirteen years, Nicola has been a vet nurse working in some of Melbourne's busiest animal hospitals. She has also volunteered in animal de-sexing programs, bushfire animal triage and with Animal Liberation. Here, Nicola helped with winter lambing and witnessed farmed animals suffering from a lack of animal welfare provisions. If elected, she is committed to securing mandatory shade and shelter for sheep and other farmed animals.

Having volunteered on the wetlands rescuing native waterbirds, Nicola is passionate about ending duck shooting. She knows that the majority of Victorians do not support recreational duck shooting, and securing a ban will be one of Nicola's first priorities.

Nicola embodies the Animal Justice Party's values of kindness and equality, and is constantly and selflessly working hard to make the world a better place for all animals.

Donate to the Animal Justice Party

Help elect Animal Justice MPs in Victoria

We're putting everything in to re-elect Georgie Purcell MP to the Victorian Parliament, and build a powerful crossbench that can put animal protection on the political agenda – where it matters most.

Every donation helps turn compassion into political power.

Your support powers real election impact

We rely on donors like you to run in the 2026 State Election. Your contribution helps fund the essentials that make campaigning possible — advertising, printing, outreach, and getting our message in front of voters.

Without grassroots support, we can’t compete with major party spending. With it, we can win seats and change outcomes for animals across the state.

Now is the time to act.
If you want to see stronger animal protection laws in Victoria, this is how it happens.

Can you chip in today to help build the movement in Parliament?
