Improving Access to Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals

The Aust Govt sought feedback about 5 proposed measures to improve access to safe and effective agricultural and veterinary (agvet) chemicals, inviting feedback from across the community. The aim is to give farmers and other users access to newer and better chemical products, while ensuring the integrity of Australia’s agvet chemicals regulatory framework.

The Animal Justice Party contributed a 26-page submission to this consultation and provided 34 recommendations.

We asserted that natural solutions should be developed and that legislation to make the off-label use of agricultural and veterinary chemicals easier is not required; quite conversely, legislation is urgently required to reduce the use of such harmful chemicals.
